Larson Finishes 11th At Pocono; Wiggins Getting Reps With Chargers

Kyle Larson held the pole position on Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Pocono, but ended up with an 11th-place finish.

Winning the pole for the GoBowling.com 400 was a career first for Larson, in his rookie season on NASCAR's top circuit. His best lap was turned at 183.438 mph.

He never led a complete lap of the race, though. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., was the winner, his third victory of the season.

NASCAR will head to Watkins Glen, N.Y., this weekend for the Zippo 200 at the Glen.
NFL Update -
- Former Elk Grove Herd and Fresno State offensive tackle Kenny Wiggins is getting plenty of reps during training camp drills for the San Diego Chargers. Last season the 6-8, 310-pounder spent much of the time on the Chargers' practice squad but was activated for one game in November.
- Catching the eye of teammate Calvin Johnson this summer is Detroit Lions' wide receiver Jeremy Ross. "Jeremy Ross' catching everything, he had a great off-season and coming around at just the right time," "MegaTron" said of the former Laguna Creek Cardinal. Ross who signed last season with the Lions and played in ten games, is hoping to solify a position for himself this fall. "This is a great receiving corp," Ross said. "Everywhere I've been had a great receiving corp. Green Bay had a great receiving corp, New England had a great receiving corp. I've been able to learn from these guys." Ross hopes to end his globetrotting from one club's practice roster to another, and wants to play a full season in Detroit. Jim Caldwell is the team's new head coach and was in Indianapolis when Ross was first signed as a free agent out of California.
