The High School baseball season really kicks into high gear this week around Elk Grove. Tonight the Thundering Herd will make up a rain-out from last Thursday at Grant in the Delta Valley Conference. Don't be surprised if this is a tight ball game because Grant is much better than everyone thinks.
Tomorrow at EGHS, Franklin and the Herd will face off for the first time this year. This should be a close ball game all the way around and give us some idea which of these two schools has the better club. Also tomorrow Davis will play at home against Laguna Creek. The Blue Devils are 2-0 going into Tuesday's game. The Cardinals are 1-1 after taking a big win over Monterey Trail Saturday.
The Delta River League is underway this week. Pleasant Grove, the defending league champion, and Sheldon will play against each other tonight, Wednesday and Friday. But, the big early season showdown this week in the DRL will be Jesuit vs. Oak Ridge. Both of these clubs are perennial playoff participants.
