Kenny Wiggins, after three long seasons of waiting for his time, has finally been activated for San Diego's game tomorrow 's game at Miami. The former EGHS and Fresno State offensive tackle spent two years ago on the practice squad with Baltimore. Last season he was on the 49ers' practice team. This year he's been with the Chargers' practice squad.
Today, he was signed to the active roster at the same time San Diego waived rookie tackle Nick Becton.
Wiggins will wear #72. Good luck, Kenny. I still remember you as the biggest kid in Cal Ripken Baseball.
Spencer Levin
The PGA Tour player and EGHS alum is in contention this weekend at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Mexico. After today's third round he's tied for eighth at ten-under-par, five strokes in back of Robert Karlsson and Harris English.
In 2011, Levin almost won this event, losing the title in sudden death.
He's looking for win number one on the Tour.
Cosumnes Oaks Takes Section Soccer Title
Cosumnes Oaks has another Section banner to hoist in its gym.
The boys' soccer team today won the Sac-Joaquin Section's Division II championship by defeating Gregori, 2-1. The game was played at Cosumnes Oaks' Stadium.
In the game that followed, Granite Bay defeated Jesuit, 2-1 in overtime, to take the Division I soccer title.
Davis Wins Girls' Water Polo Championship

Davis handed St. Francis an 11-3 loss in the Sac-Joaquin Section final Saturday at the Roseville Aquatic Complex. The two schools have now met in the section finals for each of the last 10 seasons.
St. Francis got goals from Eileen Walsh, Jennalyn Barthels and Brinnley Barthels but did not score until the Blue Devils had opened the game with six goals over the first nine minutes.
“Davis came out and was ready to go,” said Troubadour head coach Heather Moody. “It took us a little to get back in the swing of the game. I think Wednesday took a toll on our group because it was such as an emotional and physical game.”
Four players scored two goals each to lead Davis, which won the section title for the fifth consecutive season.
“We were super tentative offensively because they were pushing that counter attack so hard,” said Moody. “We were pulling back so early in our offensive front that we were not getting any offensive opportunities.”
St. Francis finished 18-13 on the season and was second overall in the Delta Valley League.
In the boys' water polo championship match today, Davis defeated Jesuit, 13-9.
Davis Wins Girls X-Country

The St. Francis cross country team placed three runners in the top five but was edged by Davis for the Sac-Joaquin Section title in a close race Saturday at Willow Hills Reservoir.
Davis scored 37 points to 43 for St. Francis to claim the team title. Woodcreek finished third to round out the three qualifiers for the CIF State Championships from the section.
“I am really proud of the team because we were the underdogs going into the race,” said senior Lauren LaRocco. “We really fought hard. People did not think it was going to be this close. We were right there so it is really exciting for state.”
LaRocco was second overall to Davis’ Fiona O’Keeffe in a personal-best 17:45 at the course.
“I tried to run my own race and to stay up there with her,” said LaRocco. “It was more to do whatever I can for the team.”
