Lance Briggs and Chicago Bear teammate Charles Tillman have
together done something that has never happened in the history of the NFL. They
both returned interceptions for touchdowns in back-to-back games.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that’s an NFL first.
Both of Sunday’s returns were for 36 yards in Chicago’s 41-3
romp over Jacksonville. For Briggs, a former Elk Grove High School linebacker, that
was the sixth return for a score in his career. It was Tillman’s eighth, a new
Chicago record.
The Bears, now in first place in the NFC North, have more
defensive TD’s – six – in their past three games than offensive scores – five.
Chicago head coach Lovey Smith said his teams are 18-2 in
games since 2005 when the defense scores a touchdown.
"It's a mindset that we have right now, and guys
realize that," Smith said. "The object or goal every play is to
score, period. It's as simple as that." …
The 1%CLUB basketball training organization will host a free
basketball clinic for boys and girls from grades three through high school on
Oct. 14 at Sheldon High School.
The 1% CLUB is run by Jeremy Russotti and Phillippe Doherty
who claim in a news release they can, “aid the most elite players …with hybrid
relevance training.”

Elementary school students from throughout Elk Grove Unified
School District are invited to participate in the sixth annual Falcon Fun Run
beginning at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at Albiani Middle School.
The event is sponsored by the Albiani cross country team.
Kindergarten students will run a ¼-mile course, grades one
and two a ½-mile course, grades three and four a ¾-mile course and grades five
and six will run a full mile.
Awards will be given to the top three finishers, boys and
girls, in each division. Race day registration begins at 3 p.m. and cost is $5
per runner if they register prior to Oct. 29, $7 on race day.
