Laguna Creek athletic director Brian LoForte announced today that he has hired Michael Gill as the boys' basketball coach. Gill, a graduate of Lincoln High School in Stockton, will replace the retiring Paul Casey.
Gill was Casey's assistant between 2009 and 2011. The past two seasons he's been the assistant to Gary Greeno at Lincoln/Stockton. He is a teacher at Elk Grove Charter School.
From 2005-2009 he was the head varsity girls' coach at Rowland High School in Rowland Height, Cal.
"We are very excited to have Mike as our new head coach," LoForte wrote in his news release. "He has great basketball knowledge and enthusiasm that will make him successful as we transition to the Metro League. He's paid his dues as an assistant coach and is more than read for this opportunity as a head varsity coach."
