Elk Grove, Franklin, PG Win Playoff Openers


It was the opening night of playoff action in the Sac-Joaquin Section Friday night. Here is how our local teams did:

Elk Grove 41, Ponderosa 0 - The Herd will take on Del Campo (who beat Whitney 35-27) next Friday. Running back Robert Frazier had 16 carries, 166 yards and two touchdowns along with two interceptions on defense as the Herd snuffed out Ponderosa all night.

Franklin 35, Nevada Union 14 - The Wildcats overcome five turnovers to win. Running back Kyran Harris had 231 yards and 3 TD's.

Pleasant Grove 22, Stagg 21- a real back and forth game, won on a field goal with 1:10 left.  Eagles will take on the winner of tomorrow's Burbank/Grant game.

The only local team to lose Friday was Bradshaw Christian as the Pride are defeated in the opening round of the Division V playoffs, 60-41, at Highlands.

Saturday, Cosumnes Oaks opens the post season when they host Christian Brothers. Kick off is at 7 p.m. at COHS.
