Detrick Finishes 2nd, 3rd In Pro Waterskiing Events In Austrailia

Elk Grove's Brian Detrick skiing in Melbourne, Austrailia
Former Elk Grove High School athlete Brian Detrick earned a second and a third in a pair of professional water skiing events in Austrailia last week.

Detrick was third in the Moomba Masters Event in Melbourne. He then finished in second place at the 2014 Austrailian Open.

He recounts both events on his blog. For you water skiiers, it's a good read.

Detrick wrote about his second place finish in the Austrailian Open, where he and three others tied for first place after regular competition: "This was one of the most exciting events I have been a part of. I don’t think 4 guys or girls have ever tied for 1st Place in a Pro Tour Event. This was a huge weekend for myself, not only running 39 for the first time in a Pro Tour Event, but finishing 2nd is the highest I have placed in a Pro Tour Event. The field this year was very strong! I have put in a lot of hard work and time to train throughout the winter this year and it is an amazing feeling to see the results pay off.
Detrick holds his second place trophy and his

$2500 prize.
