PG Rolls Franklin; Grubbs, Elgin Shine

It was breezy Wednesday afternoon, but the Pleasant Grove bats didn't mind as they opened their baseball season with a big 9-1 win over Franklin.

Brett Elgin threw a one-hitter at the Wildcats as Bronson Grubbs was two-for-four with a triple. Nico Toni also had a pair of hits with a double. Kellen O'Brine had three hits including a couple doubles.

Also on the diamonds Wednesday:

Cosumnes Oaks defeated El Dorado, 8-6. Kwiesi Samuel was four for four for the Wolfpack.

In Softball,  Pleasant Grove won its second in a row by defeat Enocks, 8-1. Vanessa Washington had a homer and a double. Alexa McCoin picked up the win and also drove in two runs by going three-for-three.

Sheldon defeated Franklin, 12-3. Anessa Kaylor had a double and a triple for the Huskies. Zamari Hinton was three-for-four.

Cosumnes Oaks beat River City, 11-3. Melia Roberts had a triple and two stolen bases for the Wolfpack.

The Victory Tournament begins today at Bartholomew Park in Elk Grove. Elk Grove, Pleasant Grove and Cosumnes Oaks will all participate.
