Franklin Squeaks By Elk Grove, 4th Straight DVC Championship

Jesse Formaker has really established one of the top basketball programs in the Sac-Joaquin Section. For the fourth year in a row he has combed some of the top Elk Grove-area players into a quality team that has grabbed the 2012 Delta Valley Conference championship.

Except for a momentary slip-up a couple weeks back at Laguna Creek, the Wildcats have shown they are the class of the conference once again. On Friday night, some tough defense on top of quality free throw shooting gave Franklin a 54-48 win over Elk Grove. The Wildcats made 19 of their 20 charity tosses to overcome a scrappy Thundering Herd team that is on the bubble of qualifying for the Section playoffs.
