EG Loses Two In A Row, First Since 2008

Elk Grove's baseball team hasn't lost two games in a row at home in four years. It happened Thursday when Oak Ridge's sophomore pitcher Austin Root threw a three-hitter and the Trojans won, 3-1. That plus Wednesday's loss to St. Mary's and Elk Grove is now 2-2 on the young season.

The first three Oak Ridge batters got on base in the first inning and all scored, but that was all the Trojans needed. Root did the rest going 6 1/3 innings, showing that his team might be one to beat when the playoffs roll around in May.

Craig Dowell was pretty impressive, throwing five innings for Elk Grove, but four errors cost the Herd, two in the first inning.
