Johnson, Now Eligible, Leads Sheldon In Win

Sheldon's latest addition to the basketball roster made a definite impression for the Huskies as Derin Johnson scored 24 points in a 65-53 win over Northside H.S. of Lafayette, La. The Huskies are in New Orleans this weekend for the All-Star Sugar Bowl Classic.

Johnson had to sit the first 30 days of the season after transferring from Franklin.

Other Games:

Andre Lewis, a transfer from South Carolina, debuted for Laguna Creek (9-7) in a big way by scoring 35 points. But, Laguna lost to Cordova, 74-65.

"He's about 6-2 and is a strong kid," Cardinal coach Paul Casey said. Laguna Creek's top scorer, center Malik Pope, sat out the game.

The Cardinals play at Turlock tonight.

Cosumnes Oaks, behind 24 points from Alex Van Dyke, defeated Rio Americano, 57-56.
