Franklin Takes SJS North Title

Nick Frei's RBI single in the 6th inning proved to be the difference as Franklin defeated Davis, 3-2, in the championship game of the Sac-Joaquin Section's North Division I baseball playoffs.

Earlier Friday Davis avoided elimination by coming from behind to defeat the Wildcats, 5-3, to force a deciding second game at Sacramento City College.

In game two Brandon Keup made his first mound appearance of the playoffs and pitched five 1/3 strong innings to earn the win. Kyle Von Ruden came on in relief and gutted out the save. The North title is the first in Franklin baseball history. Now, the Wildcats take on St. Mary's for the SJS D-I title Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2 in a best-of-three series to be played at UOP's Klein Family Field in Stockton.

Watch highlights of both games.
