Monterey Trail Girls Do Well In Section Masters Track

The Monterey Trail H.S. Girls' Track and Field team

The Monterey Trail girls' track and field team won three events at Friday's Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Meet held at Elk Grove High School. The 4x100 meter relay team placed first along with sprinter Esther Higgwe in the 100 meters and A'Jah Love in the 200 meters. The Mustangs' William Reyes also grabbed a first place medal in the 3200 meter run.

Cosumnes Oaks' 4x100 meter relay team earned a second along with high jumper Londeen McCovey. They will all advance to the State Track and Field Meet which gets underway this weekend at Buchanan High School in Clovis.

At question, though, is the health of Higgwe, who suffered a hamstring injury during the running of the 200 meter final. Bill Patterson has a great story about that and the Mustangs' track team.

Here's the full results of the Section Masters Track and Field Meet. The top three finishers in each event has qualified for State.
