Sheldon Clinches 5th Section Softball Banner

The Sheldon Huskies continued its domination of this year's Sac-Joaquin Section's Division I softball playoffs Wednesday by defeating Ponderosa, 8-1, and clinch its fourth SJS banner over the past six seasons. They've won two in a row to go with back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008. The Huskies also won the championship in 2002.

Meme Moore was the hitting star with three singles, a home run and three RBI's. Nikki Miles had a key two-run single in the first inning to get the Huskies' offense started. Alex Cooper threw a four-hitter for the Huskies.

Over the six games of the playoffs, Sheldon scored an amazing 75 runs. Sheldon was the third-seed out of the Delta River League this year, in fact, had to hope Ponderosa would beat St. Francis in the regular season finale in order to get into the playoffs.

Watch the video which has the championship game highlights, plus my post-game interviews with Moore and Cooper.
