Thursday Scoreboard

Before I get to the scores, read Bill Patterson's story in the Bee about the possibility the CIF will look at a different rule, much more liberal, in dealing with athletes who transfer from one school to another.

With open enrollment in Elk Grove, we're finding a "bunching" of the top baseball players in about three EGUSD schools, softball players are pretty much in about three schools. All the wrestlers seem to attend Elk Grove. Basketball players are moving into the city to attend Sheldon.

Bill's story talks about how CIF is now saying short of a legitimate change of residence, there will be a 30-day ineligibility for any athlete who does transfer. This means no more "free passes" for the athlete who goes in-between their freshman and sophomore years to a new school.

Now to yesterday's scores:

Baseball

Oak Ridge 11, Folsom 4 - this pretty much assures the Trojans of the #3 playoff spot from the DRL. Jesuit and Pleasant Grove play next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the league title.

Pleasant Grove 11, Ponderosa 4 - Good start for Matt Stafford, again. Josh Adams homered for the Eagles.

Bradshaw Christian 8, Rosemont 0 - Complete game win for Austin Ragsdale. Kyle Betts tripled. I'd like to see the Pride play the EGUSD schools and see how good they really are. They'd hold their own.

Softball

Davis 14, Elk Grove 5 - These two teams are now tied for first in the DVC.

Franklin 19, Monterey Trail 4 (5 inns.) - This game assured the Wildcats of getting the third-seed of the  DVC in the playoffs and knocked the Mustangs out of the post-season.

Sheldon 6, St. Francis 2 - a Huskies' win today against Ponderosa pretty much solidifies them for the playoffs. This victory kept Sheldon in first place in the DRL.
