C.Oaks Wins First-Ever Playoff Game; Sheldon, M.T. Lose

It was the first time ever a girls' basketball team from Cosumnes Oaks High School won a playoff game. Tuesday, the Wolfpack defeated Gregori, 52-43 to improve to 21-7 on the year and move onto the second round Thursday night.

The Wolfpack will now take on the #2 seed in Division II, Sacramento.

Elsewhere in local girls' playoff basketball, Elk Grove lost to Antelope, 52-49.

In Division I action, Sheldon lost to Nevada Union, 77-47, and Monterey Trail, the Delta Valley Conference regular season champs, lost in a close one, 51-49.

Also in D-I, Pleasant Grove defeated Lincoln of Stockton, 55-53. The Eagles are the sixth seed and they'll play at #3 Napa on Thursday.

In Division III, Florin defeated Dixon, 55-34. The Panthers will face Christian Brothers in the next round.

Bradshaw Christian, a four-seed in Division IV, whitewashed Hilmar, 77-14. They will host Riverbank on Thursday night.

In Division VI, Victory Christian easily defeated Wilton Christian, 57-33.

Here are the rest of the girls' scores from Tuesday. (Note how many blowouts there were. Are 16 playoff teams in each division too many?)

Boys' playoff openers of local interest Wednesday Night:

Div. I - Chavez vs. Franklin, West vs. Monterey Trail, Pleasant Grove vs. Merced, Turlock vs. Jesuit
Div. II -  Antelope vs. Cosumnes Oaks, Burbank vs. Del Campo, Vallejo vs. Folsom, Yuba City vs. Grant
Div.V - Sierra Ridge vs. Bradshaw Christian
