Section Director of Communications Will DeBoard says you can watch the live internet feed on http://www.cifsacjoaquin.tv beginning around 5 p.m. on the 19th.
According to DeBoard, there will be a new method in determining the post-season contenders. The top three teams from each league, plus the fourth-place finisher in the nine leagues that have had the most playoff success over the last three years (by winning percentage) qualify for the playoffs. A full list of playoff qualifiers by league is on the Section website under boys and girls basketball. Those playoff teams are then placed in their brackets by division.
DeBoard adds that there will probably be some brackets of more than 16 teams; in those cases, out bracket games will be played on Friday, Feb. 21. The top-seeded teams will receive first-round byes in brackets of less than 16 teams.
As far as tiebreakers, DeBoard says the leagues determine how those ties will be broken, including
third-place ties where the winner goes to the playoffs and the loser stays home.
"In about half of our leagues, they have moved their schedule back a day
in anticipation of a playoff game between those teams," DeBoard says.
