MT Girls Place 8th At Regional Wrestling

Monterey Trail finish 8th last weekend at the CIF Regional Girls Wrestling Championship at McNair High School in Stockton. The Mustangs' Brittany Morgan (106 pounds) and Kim Viacrusis (150 pounds) each placed second in their weight classification to pace the Monterey Trail squad.

Elk Grove was 20th overall thanks to a second place by Annastassia Ramirez at 111 pounds. Ramirez is now 26-2 in her matches this season.

MacKenzie Mireski was fifth at 137 pounds for Elk Grove.

There were 316 girls from 100 high schools that competed in the two-day event. Cosumnes Oaks, Franklin and Pleasant Grove wrestlers also competed.

Florin's top performer was Leili Lemmons who placed third at 170 pounds.

The top five in each weight class will now advance to the CIF State Girls' Wrestling Championships in Visalia Feb. 28-March 1.
