Franklin just couldn't match the seven-for-eight shooting they had from the field in the second quarter. The Wildcats scored only 12 points in the entire second half as Merced recovered from a ten-point halftime deficit and defeated Franklin, 38-37, Friday.
The Wildcats' season now ends with a 20-9 mark.
Merced advances in the Sac-Joaquin Section's Division I boys' playoff. Next week they'll play at Sleep Train Arena Wednesday against Rodriguez, a 69-64 winner over Golden Valley Friday night.
Meanwhile in Division II, Cosumnes Oaks held on to defeat St. Mary's, 76-74, in Stockton. They'll face Del Oro Wednesday, also at Sleep Train Arena.
